Thread: how old should my kitten be before i put him on a harness?

If you look around I am pretty sure there are threads on harness use already. He's certainly old enough to start harness training, as the first step is to have period of wearing the harness without the leash, so he can become accustomed to that feeling. It's very common when cats first where a harness that they feel they can't move and they just lay down. So get his best toys out and encourage him to play while wearing it.

Sooner the better the only problem is you will most probaly go through a few before he is fully grown....!
For one of our big boys we are going to order one of the mynwood cat jackets that were suggested in another thread on here.

Shimba proudly showing off his new mynwood jacket it looks real comfy on him & he is quite happy strutting around the house in it so will most probaly take him out for a walk although the main reason for it is because going to shows he travels better on my lap & the ordinary harness seemed to pull up around him & annoy him,no worries now...!
