Herbie was neutered today
Finally took Herbie to the vet to be 'done' today. He was as good as gold, didn't make a sound, took it all in his stride. So they all loved him. I gave him a good brush last night so he was super-silky for his appointment!
When we went to pick him up this afternoon they checked him and found his wound was weeping slightly. So they kept him in a bit longer to sedate him and apply some tissue glue to help close the wound. We went back later to pick him up. They said that the usual tying-off procedure was not sufficient because 'his testicles are so large', tee-hee!
He's groggy but has eaten lots of chicken for tea and is quite happy.
He has started to do a new thing though - dip his paw into the water dish and slosh the water all over the floor. And again with the other paw. And then not drink it! If this goes on I might have to get a water fountain....

Awww... dear Herbie... El Monto says: "There's life beyond balls. Eunuchs have fun too." (But I am sure Larry, Monty and Barney already told him that as well.)

Thanks El Monto. The vet told us to keep Herbie quiet, so no wrestling with his brothers and no games of chase, and to keep him warm, so no running round the garden in this freezing cold weather. And put the lampshade collar on him.
Well, Herb has never worn a collar in his life, and we're not about to inflict that thing on him.
It's bedtime now and Herb's sedation has worn off. How can we tell? Well, he nipped out of the front door and ran around the garden, and now he's howling and wrestling with his brothers. Great to see that things are back to normal. Hope the wound is OK...

Hehe... so he's been doing everything the vet told him not to do. You go, Herbie!
I am surprised she wanted you to put a lampshade on him... even my girls didn't have to wear one after their ops. I suppose you're right in completely ignoring her advice.

Sounds like Herbie is doing great. I'm sure his wound will be fine. Lucky for him he chose not to do the cone as his brothers would have teased him.
My guy was bouncing around as soon as he woke up. In fact I got called by the vet to pick him up sooner then expected. He didn't need a cone either.
