Tristone The Raven
Thanks all for the lovely welcome in the intro thread...it's very much appreciated
There was within, a mention that Ed may not be smoke - and to be honest, smoke to me means black with silver tips. Ed has definitely coloured up a bit since being born.
This was Ed at about 8 weeks old, and obviously still with his breeder. Earlier the entire litter was stuck by a gastric issue (all survived, thankfully). Ed started out as a pure black - which is why his breeder contacted me when he was born. When his fur started to gather strength, it turned out like this.
And a pic from when he came home to me at 14 weeks old...
These days, he's 3 years and nearly 1 month old and this is him now.
So please, I welcome your thoughts on his colouring. I think he's changed dramatically with age (as we do! lol)
I still love him to bits though, he's my heart cat

Yup, you are right... a smokie who has lost a lot of his silver along the way.
El Monto was the opposite... quite smokey when we got him, but went on to develop a bright silver "scarf" and belly.
BTW smoke is silver with black tips, not black with silver tips.Last edited by Antonia; 18th February 2012 at 03:03 PM.

Perhaps he had fever coat caused by his illness? Its fairly common. Fever coat can occur if the cat had a fever. The higher the fever, the more white hairs. The hairs that turn white first are usually slightly longer hairs in the coat. Cats can have low grade fevers and have no other outward symptoms. It "rights" itself eventually which is probably why you've seen his coat go black over time. To me he looks like a solid but I'm no expert
