My baby was born this week!
I'm new here. I haven't ever owned a indoor cat and have always been a dog person. I did foster abandoned kittens when I was younger, but always adopted them out. I decided to look into cat breeds because I have a chihuahua and she needs a friend and I also wanted a new baby, but didn't want another dog. I fell in love with the Maine Coon. I went to met a breeder and her adult cats. They were so sweet and HUGE!. I was scared to pet them.
Anyway my baby was born this week. I original wanted a brown classic tabby, but after seeing the beautiful coloring of their mother I decided to get a silver tabby male. Here are pictures of the babies and mom and dad. I am looking forward to posting pics. I'm thinking of names for my boy. I was thinking of maybe Chunk or Ziggy, but my bestie said name him Godzilla because these cats are so huge it looks they could eat Gigi. She is only 4lbs, lol.

Congratulations on your new addition.
No need to be afraid, Maine Coon male for all their size are just over grown Mommas boys and the girl are as gracious as they are beautiful.
Some refer to them as the Golden Retrievers of the cat world and the name gentle giants is well deserved.
The main problem is settling for only one as they're quite addictive and there nothing as much funny as a house hold of the thundering herd.

Lovely photos, but as Bob says, one Coon is never enough. You have been warned

Congradulations! Looking forward to seeing pictures of the little guy as he grows. Such a wonderful thing to have the infant pictures. I didn't get pictures until my guy was 9wks old. Also more pictures are never enough.
I too wanted a brown classic tabby but found a silver classic tabby that I just love. Perhaps my next one will be a brown tabby?

Thanks everyone. My breeder only had brown and silver tabbies at the moment and I just can't wait for my baby too long. If I decide to get another I want a black smoke kitty. They look so exotic to me. I know they will definitely be a conversation starter.

Hi, welcome to you and "Godzilla". I can imagine you are counting the days until you can bring him home.
The silvers can be ever so stunning. I have two - a classic tabby girl and a black smoke boy (who is indeed something of a conversation starter, lol).

I bet you can't wait and as the others have said one is never enough. I've got three, was four but sadly one passed away last year. I would love another one though at some point. They are brilliant company.
