This is an interesting article with profile of dog fans. You don't have to EARN dog's affection, but kitties are very selective.
I will keep my girls away from bad influence of Pirates (Neevie), male coonies , dogs, lecherous old men and other misbehaving creatures.

I think the farting thing depends what you feed em (bit like with humans really I suppose) - one of our Pyrenean dogs was terribly smelly if she ate anything turkey flavoured but if we kept her away from turkey she was sweet smelling. Our first Maine Coon, Chester was a windy, stinky kitten but seemed to grow out of it.
Awww - don't you think a bit of female feistiness is good? We're getting two female kittens soon and I will encourage tomboy behaviour; I'd prefer a combat pants and big boots daughter than a sparkly pink Barbie girl that never farts ;-)

I am so glad someone thinks the same way as me although have not had to encourage the tomboy behaviour,it seems to be there,I always say have males if you want a "village idiot" {very nice & cuddly ones of course} but if you want some life about the house have a female,I missed the cheeky ways of China RIP soooo much that even though I had my boys I had to have another girl in the mix to get some life back into the household, she has not only cheered the little flat chested girl back into doing things she has done the same to us,as yet she hasn't embarrassed me the same way as China by producing knickers {clean I hasten to add}in front of visitors but you never know what she is going to get up to next or where she will appear from, mind you it also keeps the boys on their toes & helps tire them out too just watching , we just have to watch out when both her & big bruv Welly fire off together, mugs, glasses held aloft, just luv it......

I do like the "village idiot" males but my partner will appreciate what you're saying because although these two tortie sisters will be our first female MC, he always says our two girl Pyreneans had more spirit and far greater intelligence than the boys who are big and look impressive but are, frankly, dopey. I do love my male Maine Coons but now we have three so it's time to balance out a little - cannot wait for the end of December!
Had email and pics from our kitten breeder yesterday and the blue tortie girl is the most bold in the litter so I'm hopeful that she'll sort the boys out and rule the roost. The dark tortie girl is quiet but then so was Bram as a kitten but now he's a total loon that chases the dog around the house.
Oh you've had a knicker nicker too. Perttu has done that but has more of a thing for bra's, also a bad habit of stealing panty liners and destroying loo rolls from the storage basket in the bathroom...
