TICA shows
Hi there,
I want to show Storm now that his transfer slip is finally coming through after many errors on my part sending it to TICA.
I want to try the TICA show in Swanley early next year but I am completely new to this so I have no idea what I'm doing.
Could somebody with some experience please point me in the right direction for what I need to know in terms of rules and how it works, what paperwork I have to bring (vaccination records etc) and what I need in terms of accessories?
I have no clue where to even start so would be very grateful for some advice and help!
Thanks

If you just google TICA there is a very good section on showing with them & what it entails plus normally whichever club is running the show gives you a contact no to ring & get help with any form filling in etc & would think that like FB they will also provide a mentor for you for your first show if you wish.....
I went through registering one of mine with TICA {he was already GCCF reg} & he hated it,wished I had used the open door policy of being able to do a show without it but am hoping to try one again next year with our latest girl, all of mine have/do love the FB format so will be interesting to see how she gets on with the faster pace of a TICA show, good luck & might see you at one....x

Thank you :D
Sorry for sounding a bit thick but what is FB? :p
How would I get hold of decorations, and what type of decorations are you supposed to have in the pen?
Do they have o be in specific colours? I think I remember that in GCCF shows you are only allowed white but I don't know about TICA?
All so confuddling xxMummy to;

The other organisation you can show under is Felis Britanica {FB} & the last show we done with them was in December & of all places Swanley....
Both TICA & FB allow you to put curtains in your pen,any colour you wish so you would normally try & get ones that show off as a good background to your cat & if there is a theme to the show then again it is up to you if you want to decorate your pen towards that,FB normally do a prize for the best decorated when the show is themed so would think TICA could be the same.
I used to have curtains but no longer bother,Merlyn used to hide behind them & act a frightened cat but once we went back to just the basics he was fine & so haven't bothered any more with any of them,so all you need do is take along bedding, tray etc,all cats basics but in whatever colour you want, you are allowed to leave food in as well as water plus favourite toy if it makes them feel more at home, all in all a lot more relaxed atmosphere for cat to be in than the GCCF,after your trial run if you want to get curtains etc then go for it you can very often buy sets ready made from the shows or you can make up your own,I am hopeless with sewing but even I managed to make mine.
I think the idea of the all white with GCCF is that all pens look the same so when the judges go along to each pen you can't have put something in it which you can tip them off about so all judging is fair & done on a "don't know whose cat basis" but that all goes out of the window to me when you hear the entrants talking to the judges like long lost friends, with both TICA & FB you take your own cat up to be judged so they never come near your pens, also you are with your furry from start to end of the show, you do not have to vacate hall while main bit is done.
Good luck & hope you have fun,we do....xxx

Ruby & Shimba say it's a shame you can't see the xmas lights round their pens Storm {both were decorated but only Shim's showing} & Ruby had xmas music playing in hers much to the delight of the exhibitor sitting at the next pen & they also say come along Leo come to an FB show & they will look after you & tell you what to do.....!
