Another "IS this a MC?" Post.
You guys must get tired of this, but here goes question number 3652 (or something like that).
We got Precious from the SPCA 6 weeks ago after our former cat was shot by the city (we will not go there). We believe she may not be a purebred Maine Coon but suspect she has some MC blood.
She is a Mackerel tabby with solid black from top of head to end of tail.
Some whiskers and most fur on side is multicolored on each hair.
Curling fur in ears and tufts on top
M on forehead
Feather-duster tail.
She prefers to sit beside me though will lay on lap at times
She is very talkative, but more trills, with few meows.
Long haired pantaloons on rear legs
lots of fur on feet between pads
Drinks water like a fish, loves to drink from the running fawcett
She does lack the mane/ruff that most coon cats have
Main problem with her is, she is smarter than we are.
Super sweetheart, truly she is Precious.
What say ye? Think she is part Maine Coon?
Thanks for your input

Cant answer your question Smudgeboss as I dont have enough knowledge about the breed, but either way she is a wee stunner.

On that one you are right Chris. She is one of the most beautiful cats we have seen, soft colors around the muzzle, and so gentle (except with her little 3 month old calico sister), who I am sure she gets frustrated with. But we love her no matter her breed.

Congratulations! She looks and sounds lovely.
I'm no expert, but it sounds like a lot of the traits are there.
I thought MC's always had a ruff, but was a bit surprised after looking at some of the breeder's websites. Here's one I recently checked out; notice the lack of a ruff on many: Kassaro Maine Coons - Girls
Oh, and I love the term, "long haired pantaloons"! My husband and I refer to our boy's as "clown pants". ;)Last edited by inexcelsis; 27th June 2013 at 12:23 AM.

That is so funny, I think Ginger looks like she is wearing pantaloons too! I love the photo of the catties sleeping on your legs
most of the traits you describe sound very MC like, so if you have a MC mix that will be a very good cat indeed! I would love to see more pictures of your babies.
