The Cat
Hi all, I'm so glad to have discovered this forum! Finally I have a bunch of people to talk about my cat with! Every "non-coonie" person around me is tired of hearing how smart and fabulous my cat is!! This little guy will be a year old next month. He is named KittyGato because we are not creative in naming animals, LOL. He came to us as a stray, literally walked in to our house, jumped up on the couch and started eating my daughter's chicken alfredo. We gave him the customary can of tuna and sent him on his way (because I have three family members allergic to cat hair AND cat skin). He came back every day since then, so we bought cat food. During the winter, we would let him out during the day and bring him in at night. Since I knew I was the only one caring for him, I took him to the vet for a check up, shots and I got him neutered. I figured I didn't want him to contribute to the stray problem! One day, he didn't come back. We were heartbroken, checked the shelters daily, put up posters -- everything. I went through the whole "coulda, shoulda, wouldas" and was just really upset that he was gone. He was missing for a whole week. We talked to the neighbors, I offered a reward, the whole shebang. Then one night there was a coyote in our front yard and the next night a racoon. I thought perhaps this was why he was missing. Ironically, the people down the street had a raging party that night that ended at about 4am. My daughters sleep in the front bedroom and apparently there was this cat absolutely screaming outside their window. They thought it was a stray and my youngest daughter even told the oldest to throw something at it to make it shut up, LOL. My oldest daughter opened the blinds and THERE WAS OUR CAT! Sitting on the windowsill MEOWING like crazy to get in. My daughter opened the window and he literally jumped into her arms. He stayed very close to the family for the next few days; wouldn't leave our sides. The following day, I got him microchipped and he became an indoor cat. LOL We think the neighbor who had the party had him inside their house for the week and with people going in and out of the house he managed to escape. Since then, he is the king of the house, everyone loves him, including my husband who is a card-carrying cat hater. KittyGato patrols the house, sleeps in the window sill and watches over everything. We lucked out majorly. Of all cats to wander into our house...
