Kitten with torn ear
Hi all
I am currently looking for another kitten. Went to a different breeder that was recommended to me. Everything seemed ok except they have only been breeding Maine Coons for 3 years. They showed me a little girl which is their only available kitten from a litter of 5. Girl is very cute but when I was holding her I noticed that her ear was freshly torn. In fact a small section of her ear had been ripped from the top to (almost) the bottom - you know how you sometimes see it on feral and tom cats. It was bleeding and the breeder s said they hadn't noticed and would put on cream. They said one of the kittens' siblings would have torn her ear while playing. Now I have never seen a kitten with a torn ear - not even in the moggie kitten my grandmother used to have - so I'm wondering if this is a red flag? Also I think the kitten's ear may need stitches and not just cream or else it'll always have a section hanging off. What do you think - red flag or not?
