Is my cat a Maine Coon?
Hi, I got my cat as a kitten about 2 years ago, I never got to see his parents any the lady selling the kittens didnt know what she had but Hes awfully big for only 2 years and Iam starting to wonder if hes a maine coon or perhaps a mix. Hes more than double the size of my 10 yr old tabby and seems to have many physical traits of a Main Coon heres a few pics of him, thoughts??(he has black "tips" of hair that stick out above the tip of his ear and has thick tufts of fur in between his claws and a extremely bushy tail with the hair about 6 inches long and a solid tan/white colored belly weighs about 22lbs)

Simbwatou,
I am not sure if that cat is a Maine Coon mix or not, he sure is a beauty though! He does fill up that chair nicely ! I'll let some of the other experts give their thoughts. My Ginger has an Extremely long body and tail. She acts like a dog and makes odd kitty sounds, chirps and mews. She loves to roll over on her back and lick my hands, just like a dog. I almost forgot, she comes when her name is called, if she feels like it. At least close enough to see if I have treats LOL

The only thing thats making me think hes not is that he isnt as long as most Maine Coon iv seen he is just as round and tall and has their features hes just not very long roughly 33 inches from tip of nose to tip of tail. He also LOVES to roll on his back and will follow you around. Your cat is also very pretty!

Thank you, she is the apple of our eye! It may be that he does not appear long because he is so heavy, My daughter has a moggie that weighs 10 # and looks like a bowling ball with legs, where Miss Ginger weighs 13 and is very long and lean. Ginger also has very large feet, like a snowshoe rabbit.

Someone with more knowledge may correct me, but after a flip through my cat book it looks like only the MCs and Norwegian Forest cats have the little tip of fur on their ears. His coloring is the same as my boy, but the face shape and coat looks quite different so I'm wondering if he's a NFC.
