Cat Carrier Suggestions?
Hi everyone,
So I am wanting to get 2 carriers for my 2 MC's I am getting in Feb and I am stuck on what to get!! I was going for this Cabrio one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...pf_rd_i=468294
But on some of the reviews they have said that the plastic feels flimsy, the door can be easily broken and the top catches aren't very good!! So have any of you MC owners got this carrier? Is it any good and is it big enough for fully grown MCs?
I have seen this carrier:
Atlas Wire Door Open Top Cat and Small Dog Carrier by Ferplast | Pets at Home
And I do like this one and it seems big enough.
I want a cat carrier with a top opening though as from my experience with fostering cats I have found these the easiest to use.
Anymore suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

Hi Nurselin,
Umm perhaps I am being stupid here but when i type in http://www.icatcare.org I get the International Cat Care website and I can't see any carriers, only advice on choosing one? Sorry for being slow here but do you have an actual link to the cat carriers?
Thanks.

In my experience all types of plastic carriers have problems,we have had cats break out of them on the way to vets & also both in waiting & consult room { no problem with any carrier if you have the perfect behaved animals but that is something you don't know straight off},we have had them tied up with string/wire or whatever else comes to hand{re-reading this I do mean carrier tied up not furry....!!!!} as the side plastic pegs have broken or the ones in the door have been lost or broken, nothing more frustrating in consult room than most of the time taken up with trying to get into seeing the animal...... yes agree that if the animal is difficult to get out you can remove top half of basket but I challange anyone who is trying to get a bad tempered cat out in the first place to try & grab hold of it as you remove the top half of its carrier let alone get it to stay in place while you try to get lid on again,I am sorry but whoever makes a lot of these don't think of the practacalities of other than purrfect behaved felines......
I am no good at posting links but google Pennine rectangular wire pet carriers, strong, will last for a lifetime, middle size of the three fits our 10+kg cats, they travel to shows in one of these, has a metal tray in the bottom which is ideal, paper in there if they pee not all over everywhere & dead easy to clean out plus with the top lifting up completely you have easy access to cat even the most bad tempered it gives you full room to get in to get it out {a lot off cats are happier at you bending over them to get them out than putting your hands alone in & fishing around plus a nice big hole to drop even the most bad tempered animal into slam lid shut bar in & all safe & sound.....
Yes I have a plastic carrier & yes I have one of the big canvas carriers as they fold up & with six cats to transport sometimes space dictates but none of my furry babes ever travels in anything other than wire carriers until I am 100% certain that they are 100% safe with travelling & Shimba our big boy actually prefers the wire carrier to any of the others even though two of them are bigger....
Sorry that is an essay but as I said in another thread 40 years of working in a vets play a big part as to knowing what works well & what doesn't.....xxxLast edited by jckkerrison; 30th December 2013 at 07:23 PM.

Hi jckkerrison,
Thanks for all the info and I know where you are coming from as in the 2 years I have been fostering I have had some quite fiesty cats lol I have used the carriers you said to google for when I was fostering and I do like them as they are top opening. One of the reasons I like the 2 carriers I listed is they can be used as cat beds etc and not take up too much space. But I will definitely consider your carrier option, bah too many choices lol. I am also hoping I won't have mad fiesty MC's as I will leave the carrier out in the lounge so they hopefully will get used to it and feel happy going in the carrier.
