    Merlin is finally all better!

It's been a long haul since we adopted our senior Coonie boy Merlin in December, but after many long weeks of cleaning up messes, trips to the vet, medications, and constant worry I am happy to report that Merlin is finally healthy! The bladder infection is gone, no more pee accidents! And his breath no longer stinks like rotting flesh (unless he sticks his face in yours at 5am-morning Coonie breath yuck!)
He's also finally started engaging the other cats in a positive way, but he assaulted them so many times previously they're not convinced Merlin is just trying to be nice. His ideas of play don't always go over very well, especially using Sampson's tail as a chew toy LOL! He's up to 14lbs now and eats like a horse, we joke that Merlin is really a hobbit (I actually wanted to give him a LOTR name but DH chose this one lol) I feed him breakfast around 7am and by 11am he's crying for "second breakfast"!
It's so wonderful to have him healthy and see his real personality shine through. Being an old Coonie I know this time of good health could be brief, but we're certainly going to enjoy it and not take it for granted!

His age was estimated between 12-15 years initially, but with proper nutrition and care I would say he's more like 10-12 years old. He still likes to play and run around, his eating and sleeping habits are good. Because of the starvation and neglect I'm sure that aged his body prematurely, and all the years of dental neglect and losing all but six teeth also aged him. He looks like an ancient cat but doesn't always act like one!
Sampson was stretched out on the floor and Merlin walked over and bit his tail three times, each time Sampson would grumble and whine and that only made Merlin do it more LOL!! He's not too old to start trouble!
