Pure coon for size??
I am looking for my first maine coon, and one of the draws of the species is the large size they can reach. I am not sure I want to spend close to a thousand dollars on a cat, and I am seeing a lot of mixed kittens for sale much cheaper. My question is, do the cats get larger the purer the breed? Or are there mixed coons that get as large as the pure breeds?

You can get a pretty big mixed breed kitten/cat but the pure genetics deem that it can't get as big as a pedigree, also as a pedigree cat should not be put to any other breed makes you wonder about the type of person doing it,chances are they have had that cat with a written agreement that it isn't bred from or by & have ignored it,even pedigree cats sold a lot cheaper are normally sold younger than they should be & haven't had vaccines & normally along with that goes a load of excuses for not providing a pedigree....if you want a genuine MC then be prepared to pay the proper price.....xxx

yes I agree - OR you could try the local shelters, see if you can find one?
