Oh where did they all go ?
Yep me again ! I am going to stop saying that because you should be getting used to me my now !!! lol
I was out shopping today and came across a sweet that I hadnt seen for years, namely a walnut whip ! So ofcourse I bought it, and thoroughly enjoyed every last creamed centre and chocolate bit !! But it got me thinking, what other sweeties are not around anymore that we used to enjoy ! There was five boys chocolate that used to have a wee boys pic in the square either crying, or laughing etc., and milk tray in a bar of chocolate form, oh there were loads ! So just wondered if you could think of some sweet that you had when you were young and cant get anymore ! Would love to here some international ones to, definately would love to know what a twinkie is (i think thats what they say in the american programmes) could be a tweenie, but someone could put me right on that one !
So you are here, post !!!! lets know what you miss, pretty please ! lolChris X

You have not lived until you have tasted a "Hostess Twinkie" They are a yellow sponge cake with a whipped cream filling! OMG so good! I am from the midwest of the US and we all grew up eating Hostess products. I just came across some Bomono's Turkish taffy. The banana flavor was my favorite when I was a kid, it was 5 cents a bar then now it is $1.19 hahaha gotta love that!

do you know something called Tagada Strawberries? I can't ever find it here, though it's from Haribo which is a well known brand - looks like the UK market didn't suit them.... I miss them! but they're not totally lost, every time someone come from France for a visit they bring me some :-D

Donna thanks for explaining that for me I have always wondered what they were ! Sound delicious cake and cream win hands down for me anytime !! lol Pity we cant get them over here. Ok now you are going to have to tell me......is taffy the same as toffee ? and I adore turkish delight ! We have the same thing with prices going up and up and never coming down, the bars of chocolate for example are more expensive but smaller in size to !!! lol
Thanks for posting Donna and I am eternally grateful to you for telling me about the Twinkie, never thought I would find that out ! lol xLast edited by Chris; 2nd May 2013 at 03:47 PM.

Alekto I have never heard of Tagada Strawberries, are they a chewy sweet ? Have heard of Haribo though, I associate them more with kids sweets though. Atleast you can have yours brought across from France that is a bonus Alekto. lol
Thanks for taking time to post its interesting hearing about things from other people that you would never usually know about. xChris X

Chris, nope toffee and taffy are not the same! taffy is what we sometimes call salt water taffy, you get it at the circus and fairs, it is soft and goey. Where I think toffee is a harder candy but just as delicious! Haribo makes gummy candies that are sold here in the us and they seem to be a big hit!
